EVERYTHING BECOMES SMARTER IN ANTALYA Antalya's Mayor Türel listed what they will do within the Smart City Project as follows: “Smart tourism period starts in the tourism industry. From now on there will be kiosks that provide interactive information support in several languages. The tourists will immediately gather information from the kiosks or with a smart phone about the city, trading places, etc. Both Antalya's tourism and industry will gain advantage. FREE WIFI PERIOD IN 8 REGIONS We offer free Wi-Fi services in the Republic Square (Cumhuriyet Meydanı), Kapalı Yol, the beach and in eight regions. Our services have already begun. We establish unmanned service points. With this system even citizens in villages and towns will do some of their municipal service related transactions in an interactive manner, no matter where they are. Furthermore, an electronic traffic control system will start. To those who violate the traffic safety will receive traffic tickets automatically. SMART SIGNALIZATION ON 42 INTERSECTIONS We switch to smart traffic systems. In the past, one or two spots had half smart signalisation. From now on, 42 intersections will have real smart signalization. Traffic lights will shine according to the vehicle density and more importantly, ambulance, fire brigade transitions will be facilitated with the automatisation system and primary transition. At the G20 Summit and the EXPO smart traffic optimization will be provided. BUS STATIONS BECOME SMART We establish Smart Public Transportation Systems. This system will include 780 vehicles in control of our municipality and all stations within the city. The schedule and location of the vehicles will be controlled and our citizens will see the arrival of the vehicles they want to ride through their smart phones either vocally or via SMS, so there won’t be any unnecessary waiting. The stations will be smart, Wi-Fi services will be provided in all busses, the number of passengers will be counted by the automatisation.
PATIENTS WILL BE MONITORED REMOTELY Smart Healthcare is going to start. Our municipality already provides home health care services to our 2500 sick and elderly citizens. With the help of Smart Healthcare, doctors are going to monitor the diseases of our citizens with a chronic disease remotely. In addition, in a case of an emergency, ambulances will be invoked by pressing one of the panic buttons that we provide to our citizens. Barrier free SMS system will start to be used. Our citizens with hearing disabilities will reach the municipal services by SMS. We will save both water and energy reaching a rate of 30 percent with Smart Irrigation and Smart Lighting Systems.” 2023 ANTALYA’S FOOTSTEPS Stating that with the Smart City Project a new era started in technology, tourism, transportation, health and security; Mayor Menderes Türel continued: “We will interlace Antalya with fibre optic internet network in cooperation with Turkish Telekom and the General Directorate of Highways. The Smart City System will be good for Antalya’s tourism, will be good for its transportation, will be good for its trade, and will be good for our patients, disabled people, villages and municipalities. I thank our Dearest Minister who widen Antalya’s horizon in this project and accelerated its progress. I thank Turkish Telekom for their cooperation.” “WE HAVE TO DO THE PROJECTS IN 5 YEARS WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN DONE IN 20 YEARS” Former Maritime Transport and Communication Minister Lütfi Elvan said that the project after being implemented in the three largest cities in the world; London, Barcelona and Dubai is now implemented in Antalya. Stating that they will implement a larger- scaled project which was implemented in Karaman, in Antalya, he continued as follows: “When I mentioned the smart city project, people asked ‘What does he say?’. But the point we reached is evident. In Antalya free Wi-Fi started today. We do what we promise. If we are 100% sure, we promise and do it. That’s our difference. By giving strength to each other we create synergy. We have to do the works in 5 years which could have been done in 20 years. Otherwise we can’t keep up.”
